General Description: The Jasmine Sambac is also called Arabian Jasmine in western world but its real Origin is India. In north India it is called Bela or Motia and in north India it is called “Mogra”. There are some slight difference between North Indian and South Indian Jasmine. The south Indian Jasmine Sambac (Mogra) have 4 petals and North Indian Jasmine ( Bela) have 8 or more petals (bunch of petals) but the both species are same “Jasminum Sambac”. Sambac Called “pikake” in Hawaii, this is the plant used to flavor the jasmine tea.
Origin of Jasmine Oil : Arabian jasmine has been in cultivation for centuries – so long, in fact, that its origin has been forgotten, but it was probably India, where today it is one of the most commonly cultivated ornamentals.

Jasmine oil is non-toxic, non-irritant and generally non-sensitizing, although some people do have an allergic reaction to the oil. Due to its emmenagogue properties it should not be used in pregnancy. Using too much of this oil could impede concentration, as it is a deeply relaxing oil.
