The Rare Scent of Carnation Absolute
The carnation flowers are having small amount of essential oil in it. It is sometimes called ‘Clove Pink’, hinting at the similarity between the clove fresh and green buds. Both Carnation and cloves are rich in Eugenol which is a well known aromatic molecule, that’s why both scents are sweet and heavy.
It is produced in France and The Netherlands, which is extremely rare with a very heavy spicy smell and fresh aroma tinged by sweet and dark honey aroma. The clove, black pepper and exotic sweetness of ylang is sometimes used for preparing the carnation scent which is highly used in commercial perfumes and other formulation. Practically 500 kgs of flowers is used for preparation of 100 grams of essential oils using solvent extraction. It is common to including synthetic molecules like Eugenol, Iso-Eugenol and Eugenol acetates to accentuate the floral character and to lend clove and carnation like scent.
