Benefits of Lavender

Essential oils play such a massive part in our lives providing us with a variety of fragrances that have a range of benefits. Each different types of essential oil can be used in aromatherapy for different reasons and one of the most popular is lavender.

In studies it has been proven that participants that were using lavender essential oils were considerably more relaxed than those who weren’t using aromatherapy. In addition to this they were considered to be more focused at tasks given to them and although they completed the task in a slower time, there were less mistakes made in the process.

Essential oils made with lavender can also be used to ease pain, treat lack of or poor quality of sleep, anxiety and even depression, although it should not be taken as an alternative to any prescribed medicines administered by your doctor or other health professional. It can however, be used in conjunction with conventional medicine.

Life is full of trouble and strife and sometimes the day we are facing can look somewhat impossible. Lavender essential oils, when used in aromatherapy can help to bring the user to a more relaxed and natural state of mind and ease them through the day without stressing out too much, and this is all because a humans sense of smell is directly connected to the brain meaning that it works much faster than other methods and also more effectively.

There are many ways in which you can incorporate lavender essential oils and aromatherapy into your life. How often do you have a bath? Well, why not try adding a couple of drops of lavender essential oils to your bathwater before you get into it? You could also try burning lavender scented candles in your home. Lavender is particular useful at bed time. You can get fragranced room sprays that can be sprayed onto the pillow an hour or so before you go to bed and this can help bring about a more natural and deeper sleep.

If you have lavender growing in your garden then why not pick a couple of sprigs and add them to a bowl of pot pourri or dry them out, place them in little material bags and hang them in wardrobes or drawers to keep your clothes smelling the nice. If you don’t have lavender then you could always sprinkle a couple of drops of lavender essential oils on an old piece of material and leave that there instead.
